Gerber Flower Arrangement

Filed under: Uncategorized — davids @ 6:22 pm

Gerbera dasies (or gerber’s), the staple of happy spring arrangements, have a tendency to arrive wilted, as they are often stored in ‘flats’ with their stems out of water. A way to rehydrate them and perk them up is to put the stems in water containing a shot of vodka. Below are two gerberas, the one on the left is as the flower arrived, and the one on the right is after sitting overnight in vodka water. Big difference eh! Happy Mothers Day.

Party Tablescapes

Filed under: flowers — davids @ 11:57 pm

No matter how strange, unusual tablescapes can always provide something people can relate to as a conversation piece at a party. In a party tablescape, anything goes. For example, here is an unusual use of a protea and horsetail (equisetum) as spiders legs in an arrangement. A rock provides a niche for the fantasy tablescape creature particularly with more rocks.

Such party tablescapes bring a special identity to the host of a party or dinner, and raise the stakes for the next of your guests to host a party. All you need is a little imagination and we are willing to help out in any way we can. Good luck!

Feather Arrangements

Filed under: flowers — davids @ 11:36 pm

Bird feathers in an arrangement bring a little magic to a room. Peacock feather flowers can be used in an arrangement, or fill an entire arrangement in themselves.

An easy way to get started in peacock feather arrangements is to create a round shaped peacock feather fan using a small pot and dry floral foam as shown below. The addition of the earthy pheasant feathers in the arrangement helps to create a base, while the glittering artificial feather provides lift.

This could be used as a feather centerpiece in a tablescape, in addition to candles and other tablescape items. In general flower arrangements with feathers have a flamboyant ‘retro’ feel that is good for creating atmosphere in parties.
