Wedding Flower Arrangement

Here is an example from one of our weddings in the outdoors. This was quite a windy site, presenting a challenge in securing the large urns of roses and cala lilies in the Alter arrangement. A large rod down the center ensured there were no mishaps to detract from the solemnity of the event.

Party Tablescapes

Filed under: flowers — davids @ 11:57 pm

No matter how strange, unusual tablescapes can always provide something people can relate to as a conversation piece at a party. In a party tablescape, anything goes. For example, here is an unusual use of a protea and horsetail (equisetum) as spiders legs in an arrangement. A rock provides a niche for the fantasy tablescape creature particularly with more rocks.

Such party tablescapes bring a special identity to the host of a party or dinner, and raise the stakes for the next of your guests to host a party. All you need is a little imagination and we are willing to help out in any way we can. Good luck!

Feather Arrangements

Filed under: flowers — davids @ 11:36 pm

Bird feathers in an arrangement bring a little magic to a room. Peacock feather flowers can be used in an arrangement, or fill an entire arrangement in themselves.

An easy way to get started in peacock feather arrangements is to create a round shaped peacock feather fan using a small pot and dry floral foam as shown below. The addition of the earthy pheasant feathers in the arrangement helps to create a base, while the glittering artificial feather provides lift.

This could be used as a feather centerpiece in a tablescape, in addition to candles and other tablescape items. In general flower arrangements with feathers have a flamboyant ‘retro’ feel that is good for creating atmosphere in parties.

Filed under: Uncategorized, flowers — davids @ 11:48 pm

Unusual color combinations are possible for matching table setting, such as red and black, with simple arrangements and colored vases. For example, the gerber daisy comes in a wide range of colors from white through orange to yellow and red. Combination with a simple vase containing colored plant material produces the red and black arrangement below (Order Here).

Any other combination is possible on request, allowing matching of colors to specific setting needs. The pictured arrangement is also very a simple, and long lasting, arrangement that could be done easily.

Simple Floral Arrangements Using Tulips

Filed under: flowers — davids @ 10:59 pm

Tulips lend themselves to the simplest of arrangements. Simply cut and wash the stems, peeling off any extra leaves and place them in a vase. Tie a piece of ribbon around the vase, and spead the tulips so they stand in the vase nicely. There you have it (see below). Be sure to choose the tulips with the closed buds, and then you can enjoy the whole process of tulip maturation.

I have been told that to enhance the life and vitality of cut tulips, add a penny to the water. “Viagra for tulips”, I have been told. For more information about flower arranging Click Here!
